The Story Behind the Move

Catalyst

Generac disclosed the Amazon supply agreement after the close on September 16. Initial deliveries are valued at about 2.4 billion dollars across 2027 and 2028, against 4.44 billion dollars of trailing twelve month revenue for the entire company, with the arrangement able to reach roughly 8 billion dollars as warrant milestones vest. The stock rose 18.3 percent on September 17 on 6.7 times average volume and held the gain the following session.

Why It Mattered

It converts an unpredictable residential business tied to storms into contracted commercial revenue, and it does so at a scale that is more than half the company's current annual sales.

Risk Note

Amazon received a warrant for about 1.69 million shares at 200.93 dollars, so the customer is also a future shareholder and the upside carries dilution. Deliveries do not begin until 2027, and one customer now dominates the growth story.

Reader Takeaway

A signed delivery schedule is a different kind of evidence from a conference presentation, and this week the market paid the same multiple expansion for both.
